  • Judith C. Giordan, PhD, Managing Director

    Over 40 years of experience translating research to commercial opportunities. Judy is co-founder of the Chemical Angels Network, entrepreneur and former Fortune 100 executive. 

    Judy serves as board member, co-founder, advisor and investor in seed and early stage start-ups. And Judy was 2023 President of the American Chemical Society.

    Her previous executive positions include Vice President and Global Corporate Director of Research and Development at International Flavors and Fragrances, Inc.; Vice-President Worldwide Research and Development for the Pepsi-Cola Company, the global beverage arm of PepsiCo, Inc.; Vice President Research and Development, Henkel Corporation, the North American operating unit of the Henkel Group; and co-founder and managing partner of 1EXECStreet, a successful San Francisco based boutique executive search firm. She has also held management and technical contributor positions at Polaroid and ALCOA and has served with the National Science Foundation as Program Director for the IGERT Program.

  • Joseph Steig, Director

    Joseph runs Lens of the Market ACCELERATED and also serves as a consulting CFO to startups.

    Joseph is the founder of the angel group River Valley Investors and served on the board of directors of FORGE an educational nonprofit that helps startups with product manufacturing. He was CFO at LRVHealth a seed and early stage venture fund. He uses his knowledge of financing and business structures to deliver Lens of the Market training.

    Joseph has a background with technology-based start-up, serving primarily in CFO positions, and has worked in sectors as diverse as aquaculture and software. He also has extensive experience in economic development. Joseph is a Hampshire College graduate (BA Social Theory) and lives in Vancouver, Canada.

  • Susan A. Stanton, PhD, Lead Facilitator

    Founder/Principal of SBCi Ltd., a company that develops commercialization strategies for entrepreneurial and established companies with science and engineering products and evaluates the commercial potential of science and engineering based organizations for investment by individuals, VCs and government agencies.  

    Susan has over 30 years of experience translating research to commercial products and processes and is an angel investor, mentor and advisor to individuals and teams commercializing products based on science and engineering.

    Her previous executive positions include Vice President, Market and Technology Assessment at the National Technology Transfer Center; Vice President of Technology, Nexicor, LLC.   She has also held management and technical contributor positions at ALCOA, Ashland Chemical and Bayer.   She has served on several association and foundation boards and as a judge for NASA, NCIIA, ACS, and business plan competitions.

  • Jenn M. Amador, PhD, Lead Facilitator

    Jenn is co-founder of nexTC Materials, an early stage start-up spun out of research at Oregon State University. nexTC’s unique platform technology allows doe deposition of thin-film oxide materials on glass for use in a range of markets from solar photovoltaics to dynamic window glazing.  

    She is a Lens of the Market alum, previously was a co-facilitator for Lens of the Market at the University of Texas El Paso and is a former CSMC Innovation Fellow and Pivotal Scholar.
