Judy Giordan is the co-founder of the Chemical Angels Network, Managing Director of ecosVC, Inc., professor of Practice at Oregon State University, an entrepreneur and former Fortune 100 executive. Judy serves as board member, co-founder, advisor and investor in seed and early stage start-ups.

Her previous executive positions include Corporate Vice President and Global Director of Research and Development at International Flavors and Fragrances, Inc.; Vice-President Worldwide Research and Development for the Pepsi-Cola Company, the global beverage arm of PepsiCo, Inc.; Vice President Research and Development, Henkel Corporation, the North American operating unit of the Henkel Group. She has also held management and technical contributor positions at Polaroid and ALCOA, has served with the National Science Foundation as Program Director for the IGERT Program and in founder and leadership roles in startups.

Lens of the Market℠ Stage 2: Innovation2Market is based on the premise that scientific researchers or leaders of early stage science and engineering ("STEM") companies can significantly increase the likelihood of commercial success by engaging in a rigorous market identification and validation process for the proposed innovations.

Judy will be facilitating a Lens of the Market: Research2Innovation workshop at Oregon State University with the IGERT in Aging Sciences.

Judy will be facilitating a follow-up strategic planning workshop at Arizona State University. 

Judy will be attending the final presentations for the Center for Sustainable Materials Chemistry's student teams completing Lens of the Market Stage 3: Market2Scale-Up.

Always a contact sport – played primarily by those trained in the art and well equipped by the biggest and “best” companies - technology commercialization based on research from universities ranging from materials and chemicals to biomass and energy is an ever growing player in the game. 

And it doesn’t stop there – government labs also have the mandate to commercialize and with all of this rule changing and corporate downsizing - companies are extolling the value and importance of Open Innovation, and former employees are creating ventures!

In this shifting landscape, where EVERYONE can play, what does it take to play well and very successfully?

Presenting companies are pre-screened by an expert panel and coached on their pitch. Each company will make a presentation followed by Q&A, and be available for discussion with interested investors and corporate partners.
